Two-Time Olympian Gymnast & Dual Gold Medallist on the Pommel Horse
Brennon Dowrick OAM is one of Australia's most successful male gymnasts — a two-time Olympian who also represented Australia at three Commonwealth Games and seven World Championships, and who won two gold medals on the pommel horse, the first in 1990 as an 18-year-old. He also owns one of the most distinctive speaker propositions in Australian sport: he brings his pommel horse on stage and performs live.
Brennon's athletic career was defined by the kind of perseverance that doesn't make the highlight reel. Injury, setback and the slow, grinding work of rebuilding form year after year are as much a part of his story as the medals and the Olympic appearances. His talks draw honestly on those experiences to explore what it actually takes to sustain elite performance across a career that included 18 years on scholarship at the Australian Institute of Sport — not the Instagram version, but the real one.
Awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in the 2015 Australia Day Honours for his achievements and services to gymnastics, Brennon has served on the board of Gymnastics Australia in charge of High Performance and now channels the discipline, focus and resilience of elite sport into a speaking career that resonates with corporate audiences, sporting organisations and students alike. His live pommel horse demonstration — the gold medal routine, delivered on stage mid-keynote — is a memorable vehicle for reinforcing the message, and he also offers personal performance coaching to keynote clients.
