Olympic, world and Commonwealth champion in the 200m breaststroke and former world record holder
Zac Stubblety-Cook OAM is the Olympic champion in the 200m breaststroke, winning gold at Tokyo 2020 before returning at Paris 2024 to take silver in the same event and bronze in the mixed 4x100m medley relay. He won the 200m breaststroke world title at the 2022 World Championships, and at the 2022 Commonwealth Games took gold in both the 200m breaststroke and the mixed 4x100m medley relay. In 2022 he set a world record of 2:05.95 in the 200m breaststroke at the Australian Championships in Adelaide — a mark that stood until Qin Haiyang broke it at the 2023 World Championships — and in doing so became the only Australian in more than 20 years to hold an Olympic gold, a World Championship gold, a Commonwealth gold and a world record in a single event. He was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in 2022.
What sets Zac apart is what he has built outside the pool. He is completing a double major in Psychological Science and Business and International Business at Griffith University, sits as a representative on Swimming Australia's Athlete Advisory Board, participates in the Australian Olympic Committee's Olympics Unleashed Program, and has worked with the AOC on its Reconciliation Action Plan. He has overcome adversity in his pursuit of perfection — and he is a very articulate communicator about what that pursuit actually demands.
Audiences hear from an athlete still competing at the highest level who can explain, with the clarity of someone studying the psychology behind it, how excellence is built and sustained. For corporate conferences, sporting events and Q&A sessions, Zac Stubblety-Cook offers something rare: an Olympic champion and former world record holder in the 200m breaststroke, speaking with precision about the mindset that got him there.
