ARIA Award-Winning Musician, Author & Logie-Nominated Actor
Clare Bowditch is an ARIA Award-winning musician, a Logie-nominated actor and the author of the memoir Your Own Kind of Girl. She won the ARIA Award for Best Female Artist in 2006 for What Was Left, and has been an ARIA nominee several times since. She played Rosanna Harding in Offspring, earning a Logie nomination in 2012, and hosted the afternoon program on ABC Radio Melbourne from 2016 to 2017.
Your Own Kind of Girl was published by Allen & Unwin in October 2019, after an auction involving eight publishers, and won Best New Australian Author at the 2020 Australian Book Industry Awards. The memoir draws on her early life, including the breakdown and severe anxiety she experienced in her early twenties and how she found her way through — a story that is both intensely personal and widely resonant.
As a speaker, Clare brings the gifts she has developed across a lifetime of performing: presence, storytelling and the ability to make an audience feel, not just think. Her presentations are emotional, funny and deeply honest — exploring creativity, mental health, belonging and self-acceptance. She suits conferences, gala events and audiences that want a keynote delivered with a performer's timing.

Clare was very personable, raw, and emotional. Beautiful presence on-screen (virtual conference). Evaluation feedback. 'Clare Bowditch’s lunchtime presentation was also a standout – so good to hear such an articulate perspective of the grieving sibling – so powerful.' "Accepting children die is necessary, to be with families as they grapple with this fact." Clare Bowditch taught me that I won’t always get it right, but that families do appreciate knowing we surround them authentically with love and respect.'Palliative Care Australia
