Award-winning social entrepreneur, global speaker and acclaimed soprano inspiring creativity, leadership and wellbeing

About Tania

Tania de Jong AM is an Australian soprano, social entrepreneur and keynote speaker who has founded six businesses and four charities — among them Creative Universe, Creative Innovation Global, Mind Medicine Australia, Creativity Australia and The Song Room. Appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in 2008 for service to the arts, she has been named Ernst & Young Australian Social Entrepreneur of the Year, awarded a Churchill Fellowship and listed among the 100 Women of Influence. She has spoken and performed in more than 40 countries, including a keynote at the Thinkers50 European Business Forum in Denmark.

Her range is unusual. She holds an honours degree in law from the University of Melbourne and trained in opera and music theatre at the Victorian College of the Arts. At 14, her best friend told her not to bother with singing lessons — she has since built a career on changing the world one voice at a time, and her TED Talk on how singing together changes the brain has passed 150,000 views. As the daughter of Holocaust survivors, and granddaughter of the woman who invented the foldable umbrella, she speaks about resilience, reinvention and innovation from lived experience rather than theory.

Tania customises every keynote and often weaves song through it, regularly finishing with the whole room singing in harmony — from boardrooms of ten to conference halls of thousands. She speaks on leadership, creativity and innovation, mental health and wellbeing, diversity and inclusion, and the neuroscience of singing, and also works as an MC, workshop facilitator and performer, on her own or with Pot-Pourri, the opera and Broadway ensemble she founded more than three decades ago. Organisations including PwC, BCG, McKinsey, Telstra, ANZ and CBA have engaged her to build connection and creative confidence in their teams. Audiences leave with practical tools for courage and collaboration — and a shared moment they talk about long after the event.

A great activity that really brought together our 250 HR leaders as one team. We started with 70% saying they couldn’t sing and finished with an amazing four-part harmony song that they really were proud of. Highly recommended!
