International recording artist who returned to the pool and made the Australian Swim Team within two years
Cody Simpson made international headlines for his stunning return to swimming. The international recording artist qualified for his first international competition at the Commonwealth Games only two years after returning to the pool — finishing third in the 100m butterfly at Australia's team trials in 2022 to earn his place on the Australian Swim Team. At the Games he reached the final of the 100m butterfly and won gold and silver medals for his heat swims in the 4x100m freestyle relay and 4x100m medley relay.
Few people have lived two such different lives at the top. Cody is a true multi-hyphenate: guitarist, singer, songwriter, performing artist, published poet, theatrical star, environmental activist and athlete. He has released four solo studio albums — Paradise, Surfers Paradise, Free and Cody Simpson — portrayed the lead role of Dmitry in the Broadway musical Anastasia, and won the first season of The Masked Singer Australia as 'Robot'. He is also a UN Ocean Sustainability advocate and is launching his own apparel line, Prince Neptune.
For audiences, Cody's story poses a question most never dare to ask: what happens if you walk away from one successful career to chase a harder dream? His journey from global pop stardom back to the brutal discipline of elite swimming speaks to reinvention, focus and the courage to start again from the bottom. Available for Q&A sessions virtually and Australia-wide, Cody Simpson offers events something genuinely rare — a household name whose most compelling chapter is the one where he gave up the spotlight to earn a green and gold cap.
