About Guy

Guy Williams is one of New Zealand's most recognisable comedy personalities, best known as the host and creator of the satirical news show New Zealand Today. His career began with a stunt that landed him on the front page of the NZ Herald: he appeared live on New Zealand's most popular breakfast TV show posing as a Libertarian pro-whaling activist promoting 'whale farming', exposing the programme's approach to tabloid news. From that start he went on to co-host primetime comedy show Jono and Ben, then host the radio drive show Guy, Sharyn and Clint on The Edge.

New Zealand Today, which Guy created and hosts as a 'Volunteer Journalist', became an instant Kiwi comedy classic across three seasons — consistently winning its 8.30 primetime slot, becoming the most streamed TV3 comedy of both 2021 and 2022, and winning Best Comedy at the Guild Awards. In 2023 and 2024 he toured Australia and New Zealand with stand-up shows earning sold-out seasons and a Most Outstanding Show nomination at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. In 2024, he made his Australian television debut as a regular panellist on Tony Armstrong's Monday Experts and The Hundred with Andy Lee.

Guy suits events that want a comedian with genuine media credibility and a satirical edge — corporate audiences who follow New Zealand or Australian current affairs will recognise him immediately. His live shows demonstrate that his television persona translates directly to the stage, with writing that is tight and a punchline rate that keeps a crowd thoroughly engaged.
