ARIA Award-winning singer and stage performer — three #1 album debuts and Australia's fastest-selling single
Anthony Callea joined the elite ranks of Australian artists to have debuted three or more albums at #1 on the ARIA charts — company that includes John Farnham, Jimmy Barnes, Keith Urban and The John Butler Trio. His debut single, The Prayer, became Australia's fastest and highest selling single of all time following his breakout performance on Australian Idol in 2004.
What sets Callea apart from most entertainers is the breadth of his career across music, stage and screen. He has performed by special invitation for Luciano Pavarotti, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh, and toured alongside Celine Dion, Diana Ross, Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey. On stage he has starred in the major productions Wicked, Rent and Grease. His 2020 release 'Shadows' — co-written by Callea, Liam Quinn and Ned Philpot — demonstrated a willingness to explore the more reflective dimensions of his artistry, long after the pressure to sustain a debut could have worn thin.
For event organisers seeking an entertainer with genuine star power and real versatility, Callea delivers. He headlines his own national tours and has been part of the Carols by Candlelight family on Nine for 17 consecutive years — a measure of consistent audience connection that few performers can claim. His ARIA Music Award for Highest Selling Single, alongside multiple further nominations and a Gospel Music Award, makes him a credible choice for gala nights, award ceremonies and major corporate or community events where the headline act needs to hold the room.
