Broadcaster, former Nine Network CEO and Collingwood president of 23 years
Eddie McGuire AM began his media career in 1978 as an Australian Rules football statistician and cricket reporter for Melbourne's The Herald, where he worked until 1982. He went on to become a cadet sports reporter at Network Ten before transferring to the Nine Network in 1993, where he co-hosted the award-winning Footy Show. From its premiere in April 1999 until April 2006 he hosted the Australian edition of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, and from January 2006 to June 2007 he served as chief executive of the Nine Network. He has since produced television through JAM TV, and has fronted Network 10's coverage of the Melbourne Cup Carnival since 2022.
In football administration, McGuire was elected president of the Collingwood Football Club on 29 October 1998 and held the role until February 2021 — 23 years. He has also served with the Melbourne Stars cricket club. He established the Collingwood Foundation and the Michael Long Learning and Leadership Foundation, and in 1998 was elected as a delegate representing Victoria at the Constitutional Convention on an Australian republic. He is the co-author of two books, holds an honorary doctorate from RMIT University, and was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in 2005 for service to the community, particularly through support for healthcare and welfare organisations, and to broadcasting.
McGuire is a witty and entertaining speaker equally at home in a keynote and an MC role. He brings a depth of experience across sport, media, business leadership and public life that few Australian speakers can match — and an ability to connect with audiences that comes from four decades in front of the camera and behind it.
Eddie McGuire is a keynote speaker and MC based in Victoria who speaks on leadership, media & journalism and motivation. Book through Executive Speakers Australia.
