Co-founder of Sanku — his TIME Invention of the Year fortifies flour for 25 million people across East Africa

About Felix

Felix Brooks-Church is the co-founder and CEO of Sanku, a social enterprise based in East Africa and one of the most celebrated organisations in the global fight against micronutrient malnutrition — the hidden hunger that devastates the lives of women and children in low-income communities. Under his leadership, Sanku has been named one of Fast Company's Most Innovative Companies and recognised with the Zayed Sustainability Prize, the Elevate Prize, the Lipman Family Prize, and the Rolex Awards for Enterprise. He is a Mulago Fellow and a Rolex Laureate. Born in Ibiza, Spain, he holds a BA in Geology from Oberlin College.

Felix's story is one of genuine reinvention. Originally a graphic designer and product developer, his path into public health began in 2007 while volunteering with street children in Cambodia — a firsthand encounter with malnutrition that reordered his life. He pioneered a revolutionary food fortification technology and led the design and engineering of Sanku's award-winning Dosifier, selected by TIME Magazine as one of its Inventions of the Year in 2019. This device enables small, rural millers to fortify flour with life-saving nutrients without raising costs for consumers. Today Sanku partners with over 1,500 flour mills and reaches more than 25 million people across East Africa, with an ambitious target of protecting 100 million people from malnutrition by 2030.

Felix is an exceptional fit for conferences on social enterprise, innovation, sustainability, and leadership — particularly where audiences grapple with the question of how individual purpose translates into systemic scale. His three keynote programmes trace the arc from personal encounter to global enterprise, covering the journey of a social entrepreneur, the story of design thinking applied to saving lives, and the leadership lessons of scaling the seemingly impossible. For event organisers, he offers moral clarity and technical ingenuity in equal measure — a combination that is genuinely rare on the speaking circuit.
