Former Wallabies captain, 139 Tests — 2001 and 2004 Brumbies champion and working entrepreneur
George Gregan played 139 Tests at scrum-half for the Wallabies, a national record that stood until James Slipper passed it in 2024. He made his debut in 1994, making an immediate impact with a try-saving tackle on All Black Jeff Wilson that directly led to Australia winning the Bledisloe Cup that year — a moment long remembered in the Wallabies-All Blacks rivalry. In November 2005 he won his 115th cap, passing England's Jason Leonard to become the most capped player for a national team in Test rugby at the time. He went on to captain the team and was appointed to the Order of Australia in June 2004 for his services to rugby union and, in particular, as captain of the Wallabies.
George played for the ACT Brumbies from the competition's inception in 1996, helping lead them to Super 12 titles in 2001 and 2004. After the 2007 Rugby World Cup in France, he joined French club Toulon for one season and then moved to Suntory Sungoliath in Japan, where he played three seasons and won the Japan Cup in March 2011. Beyond the field, George has been actively involved in The Gregan Group, a café and catering business run by his wife Erica Gregan as Managing Director.
He speaks to leadership, success, teamwork, and the disciplines of elite sport. He is a natural fit for after-dinner events, corporate conferences, and sporting dinners — bringing the authority of a long international career alongside the grounded perspective of a working entrepreneur.
