The Iron Cowboy — endurance world record holder who completed 100 full-distance triathlons in 100 consecutive days
James Lawrence — known to the world as The Iron Cowboy — is an endurance world record holder, triathlete, and the subject of the documentary The Iron Cowboy: The Story of the 50.50.50. In 2015, he completed 50 full-distance triathlons in 50 states in 50 consecutive days, a feat widely described as one of the greatest achievements in human endurance. Then in 2021, he went further still — completing the Conquer 100: a full-distance triathlon every day for 100 consecutive days, logging 140.6 miles per day across 14 weeks. He holds two world records: the most 70.3 Ironmans and the most full Ironmans.
His athletic journey stretches far beyond those headline achievements. He has mountain biked to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, run 235 miles across Greece, completed The Uberman, competed in the TV world premiere of The World's Toughest Race through the jungles of Fiji, and raced the Xtri World Championship in Norway. Named one of Sports Illustrated's 2017 Fittest 50, Lawrence is also a mental strength coach and the author of Redefine Impossible.
James Lawrence doesn't speak about resilience in the abstract — he has tested its limits in ways that are almost incomprehensible. His combination of energy, humour, and hard-won conviction makes for a keynote that genuinely shifts how audiences think about what is possible. For any organisation wrestling with big goals and the grit required to reach them, he is a rare and memorable voice.
James Lawrence is a keynote speaker based overseas who speaks on mental health & wellbeing, motivation and resilience. Book through Executive Speakers Australia.
