Jane Flemming OAM OLY

About Jane

Jane Flemming OAM OLY is a well-known Australian sporting personality. During her career as a heptathlete, long jumper and hurdler she was a dual Olympian, a dual Commonwealth Games gold medallist and dual silver medallist. Across 15 years of elite competition she won 13 national titles, achieved a world ranking of 2 and broke numerous records — including the Commonwealth Games heptathlon record, set in 1990, which she still holds today.

When Jane retired from representative athletics in 1997, she did not drift out of public life — she built a second career as substantial as the first. She has worked for numerous Australian and international television and radio networks, presenting nightly sports news and commentating at Olympic, Commonwealth and World Championship level, and is a regular contributor to magazines and newspapers. She is a professional company director who founded and manages two commercial businesses: Flemming Promotions, a sponsorship and marketing consultancy serving high-profile publicly listed companies, and Live Life Get Active, an Australia-wide community health initiative. She was recently named one of Australia's top 100 women of influence in sport. She is also a mother to twin boys, has trekked the Kokoda track and summited Mt Kilimanjaro.

Audiences get a speaker who can move comfortably between elite sport, media and the boardroom — and who has been tested in all three. Clients describe her simply: excellent, across a very diverse audience. For corporate conferences, sponsorship and marketing events, sporting functions and women in business programs, Jane Flemming brings a record that has stood for more than three decades and a commercial career that has never stood still.
