24 international gold medals across three Olympic Games — now studying counselling and championing mental health
Libby Trickett OAM won 24 gold medals on the international stage across Olympic, Commonwealth Games, and World Championships — including eight long course and seven short course world titles, five Commonwealth Games gold medals, and four Olympic gold medals won across three consecutive Games in 2004, 2008, and 2012. Her Medal of the Order of Australia, received in 2005, recognised her enormous contribution to Australian swimming. Her dedication to the sport was demonstrated most vividly in her triumphant return from retirement to qualify for the 2012 London Games, adding a fourth Olympic gold to an already remarkable career.
What sets Libby apart from many athletes-turned-speakers is what came after the pool. Since retiring from swimming in 2013 she has worked in television, spent time in a sales and marketing role for a technology company, and worked as a radio announcer for Triple M in Brisbane — a genuinely varied post-sport chapter. From 2020 she has focused on mental health, studying a Bachelor of Counselling while raising her three daughters, Poppy, Edwina, and Bronte. She speaks to this work from a place of personal conviction, not as an add-on to her swimming story.
Libby suits events where organisations want to address performance, resilience, or mental health alongside a high-profile sporting story. Her vivacious personality sits alongside genuine depth — audiences receive someone who has lived at the absolute top of elite sport and is now doing the reflective, considered work of understanding what that means for wellbeing.
