Matt Tarrant

About Matt

Matt Tarrant is one of Australia's most successful up-and-coming international magicians and mentalists — and one of the more unlikely origin stories in entertainment. At 27, he left a career at one of Australia's Top 4 Banks to become a professional magician. Since performing to sold-out audiences at the Adelaide Fringe for the first time in 2012, where he received his first award, he went on to win an award at the festival each consecutive year through to 2017 — the longest such streak in the festival's history.

In 2018, Tarrant became the highest-selling solo performer at the Adelaide Fringe for the second year running, selling over 10,000 tickets across the month-long festival. That same year he sold out entire seasons at Fringe World in Perth. He was cast in Australian Survivor in 2017, competing across 51 days in Samoa and finishing fifth from 24 contestants — a run that brought his personality and competitiveness to a national television audience. He has appeared across all major Australian TV networks and radio stations, and was part of a major advertising campaign for the AFL and Port Adelaide Football Club.

For corporate events, Tarrant is an entertainer who offers something audiences haven't seen before. His clients include major Australian companies and brands, and his work combines close-up illusion with the kind of audience interaction that turns a room full of strangers into a crowd. He suits product launches, conference entertainment, gala dinners and awards nights where the brief is to leave people genuinely astonished.
