Peter James

About Peter

Peter James is a stand-up comedian rising quickly out of Brisbane on the Australian comedy circuit. He has performed multiple sell-out shows across Queensland and at the Adelaide Fringe, Perth Fringe World, Brisbane Comedy Festival and Melbourne International Comedy Festival, where he garnered four and five-star reviews. In 2023, he won the Best Comedy Weekly Award at the Adelaide Fringe. He is one half of late-night cult-comedy show Shad and Pete Save the World!, which regularly features some of the biggest names in Australian comedy as special guests, and he has toured regional Australia as part of the Sydney Comedy Festival Showcase Tour.

Peter founded and organises Laughing Heart Comedy, Cairns' premier comedy venue — a concrete act of investment in comedy infrastructure at a regional level that speaks to both his commitment to the art form and his ability to build an audience from scratch. He performs regularly at some of Australia's most prestigious comedy venues, including the Sydney Comedy Store, the Perth Comedy Lounge and the Basement Comedy Club in Melbourne. Most recently, he featured on a 56-show tour around the UK in support of Georgie Carroll's 2025 Infectious tour.

Peter James is an articulate, intelligent comedian — five-star reviews say so, and audiences who see him tend to agree. He is well suited to club nights, festival lineups, regional touring and corporate entertainment, particularly in Queensland where he has an established following and genuine local credibility.
