Indigenous comedian, MC, actor and author of The Skin I'm In, with writing credits on Fisk, Bump and Rosehaven.
Steph Tisdell is a comedian, keynote speaker, MC, actor, and published author whose career spans stand-up, screen, and the page. As a proud Indigenous woman, her comedy operates at the intersection of social justice and sharp wit — an early interest in law giving her the analytical edge to challenge cultural stereotypes in ways that are simultaneously 'riotous, audacious and incredibly smart' (Arts Hub). Her debut solo show Identity Steft won the weekly award for best emerging talent at the 2018 Adelaide Fringe and was nominated for Best Newcomer at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Her second show, The Pyramid, was a co-recipient of the 2019 Melbourne International Comedy Festival John Pinder Award.
On screen, Tisdell has appeared in Bump, Total Control, Class of '07 and The Deb. She has writing credits on Fisk, Bump, and Rosehaven. In 2024 she added 'published author' to her credentials with the debut young adult novel The Skin I'm In, published through Pan Macmillan Australia. Time Out has praised her as 'warmly funny, immediately relatable, fast on her feet'. The Adelaide Review described her as recognising 'that true vulnerability is a powerful place to excavate comedy material'.
For event producers, Tisdell delivers something rare: comedy that is both politically engaged and genuinely funny, with the emotional range to hold a room that wants to laugh and think. She suits corporate events, festival headline slots, panel discussions with a comedic chair, and MC roles that call for someone with authority, warmth, and the ability to read a crowd.
Steph Tisdell is an MC and entertainer based in New South Wales. Book through Executive Speakers Australia.
Thanks heaps for working with our students last week. The kids got a lot out of it. Your friendly, down-to-earth approach worked really well. My 10 Drama class were very inspired and performed their ideas developed in the workshop for the whole class the next day and very excited by it all. The kids had a lot of fun and laughs. The challenge of creating a comic scene from your suggested words, hearing about your own experiences and work, went down well.Acting Cultural Program Leader, Mt Maria College
Steph Tisdell is an absolute legend, she stepped up as a keynote for our mental health conference and completely held the room with her speech, everyone was cry-laughing so much, she is pretty damn hilarious. Her ability to be so real, so human an accessible brings a layer of extraordinary richness to her amazing humour and wit. She was totally professional, generous and authentic and we’d have her back in a heartbeat.Peer Workforce Engagement and Development Coordinator, Brook Red
