Melbourne sketch and song duo — MICF Moosehead Award winners, Edinburgh Fringe performers, MC, improv workshops and icebreakers
The Burton Brothers — real-life brothers Tom and Josh Burton, hailing from Melbourne — are a comedy duo whose high-energy live shows combine sketch, song, physical comedy and charismatic characters. They won the Moosehead Award at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in 2025, the Best Kids & Family Award at the Adelaide Fringe in 2025 and the Director's Choice Award at the Sydney Comedy Festival 2026, and have been nominated for Best Comedy at the Melbourne Fringe in both 2023 and 2024. Their 2024 show 1925 — a sketch show built entirely around the events of the 1920s — toured to sell-out crowds across the country and earned a 4.5-star review from Chortle. The success of 1925 saw them named in the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow national tour. Since 2021, they have performed at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
Tom Burton is a comedian, writer and performer, an improv and sketch ensemble member and teacher at The Improv Conspiracy Theatre, and the creator of absurdist late-night talk show Talkie Time with Jackie Lime. Josh Burton is a comedian and writer, a cast member of Impromptunes The Completely Improvised Musical, a performer in Dizney in Drag, and a prolific children's performer whose credits include nationally toured shows Roald Dahl and the Imagination Seekers and Signor Baffo. Josh also appeared as 'Hot Ryan' in ABC TV's Fresh Blood series Urvi Went to an All Girls School. They perform regularly at Melbourne comedy rooms including Yes Yes Yes, Shrub Comedy and Limbo.
In the corporate world, The Burton Brothers are available as MC/hosts, entertainment acts, icebreaker facilitators and improvisation workshop leaders — a rare combination that makes them equally useful at gala dinners, conferences and team-building days. Their musical chemistry and ability to read a room have drawn praise from Melbourne Fringe, where they have been engaged for both stakeholder events and VIP programs. Testimonials describe them as professional, adaptable and skilled at putting audiences immediately at ease.
