Wayne Pearce

About Wayne

Wayne Pearce is a rugby league legend who represented Australia in 19 test matches and was part of the undefeated 1982 Invincibles tour. As captain of the Balmain Tigers and NSW Blues, he led from the front — and his record as a coach continued that pattern. He remains the only person to have both captained and coached the NSW Blues to a 3-0 series whitewash, a distinction that speaks to rare leadership across two entirely different roles.

Pearce holds a Bachelor of Science focused on the psychology of peak performance and has spent more than 25 years working with organisations on leadership, teamwork and high-performance culture. That blend — elite sporting credentials grounded in formal psychology — sets him apart from most sporting speakers, giving his presentations both credibility and practical frameworks. He works directly with leadership teams rather than simply delivering keynotes, running programs that clients including IAG Insurance, DHL Express, St George Bank and Merrill Lynch describe as producing measurable results.

He is best deployed at leadership conferences, national sales meetings and corporate team programs where audiences want more than inspiration — they want a framework for building and sustaining high-performing teams. Testimonials consistently reference the direct applicability of his material and the candour with which he shares both his playing and coaching experiences. For organisations willing to go beyond a one-off keynote, he also delivers multi-session team programs.
