Dr Samantha Pillay OAM

About Samantha

Dr Samantha Pillay OAM is a surgeon, entrepreneur, international five-time Amazon No. 1 best-selling author, multi-award-winning AI film and AI music producer and director, and the recipient of the Medal of the Order of Australia on Australia Day 2025. She was one of four South Australian finalists for the 2022 Australian of the Year award, a 2023 Telstra Best of Business Award finalist in two categories — Accelerating Women and Championing Health — and the 2024 Women In Innovation Social Impact Award recipient. She is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Professional Member of Professional Speakers Australia.

Dr Pillay's particular angle is the convergence of surgical precision and creative audacity. She has been the principal investigator on clinical trials, developed an online Continence Course for Health Professionals accessed by over sixty thousand visits worldwide annually, and created a video lecture series for the University of Adelaide Medical School — while simultaneously producing AI-generated film and music. Her work spans areas most professionals treat as entirely separate: clinical medicine, gender equity, generative AI for social impact, and the power of perseverance in male-dominated industries.

She is a compelling choice for conferences on innovation, women in leadership, health, and the intersections of technology and social impact. Her keynotes — covering generative AI for social impact, leadership for women, gender equity, and the power of perseverance — are built from a career in which she has navigated precisely those challenges, not merely observed them. For event organisers who want a speaker with genuine cross-sector credibility, Dr Pillay is a rare combination of clinician, creator, and advocate.
