Co-founder of Tour de Cure, creator of The Ideas Vault, and author of six books on creativity and innovation
Gary Bertwistle has spent more than 25 years working in the innovation industry, shaping retail, music, and radio businesses and helping individuals and organisations unlock creative thinking. He is the author of six books — The Keys to Creativity, Who Stole My Mojo?, What Made You Think of That?, The Vibe, My Dad's Got Mojo, and What I Wish I Knew About Cancer — and the founder of The Ideas Vault, a creative thinking venue opened in 2002 at The Entertainment Quarter in Sydney and used by some of Australia's largest organisations for meetings, seminars, and strategic ideation. He is co-founder of Tour de Cure, a cycling charity funding cancer research, which has raised more than $118 million since its formation in 2007.
Gary's angle on innovation is democratic and practical rather than theoretical. His core argument — that every person in a business, from receptionist to Managing Director, holds creative potential that organisations routinely fail to unlock — shapes sessions that are deliberately interactive and challenge traditional hierarchies of idea generation. His Marketing Warfare and The Vibe keynotes give organisations a concrete model for building a brand that genuinely connects with customers, while What Made You Think Of That? addresses the specific psychological barriers that prevent new ideas from surfacing. The sessions are full of case studies drawn from every industry and are designed to leave audiences with an actionable plan, not just fresh enthusiasm.
Gary suits innovation summits, sales conferences, leadership offsites, and any event where the aim is to break habitual thinking and generate new commercial energy. He was named TEC Speaker of the Year in 2007, 2008, and 2012.
Gary Bertwistle is a keynote speaker based in New South Wales who speaks on business strategy, change management and innovation. Book through Executive Speakers Australia.
