Luxury hotelier turned customer experience speaker, founder of The House of Wonderful.
Peter Merrett is a professionally trained British chef turned luxury hotelier, with thirty-five years of international hospitality and corporate business experience. He graduated with a Higher National Diploma in Hotel Management from a leading UK hotel school and spent fourteen years as a luxury Red Star hotelier, working through every department and rank up to Hotel Manager at one of Britain's leading country house hotels. He opened two historic luxury country house properties in the UK, both of which went on to win United Kingdom Hotel of the Year.
He then pioneered an office-hotel concept at Tower 42 in London, work recognised with BOMA International's Best Office Building in the World award in 2008, before leading the introduction of a hospitality-inspired culture at JLL Australia — which won the International Business Excellence Award for Best Global Customer Experience in 2015. He holds a collection of twenty-two international customer service and hospitality awards, and in 2018 founded The House of Wonderful, through which he works as a trusted advisor, speaker, trainer and coach.
What he brings to a corporate stage is not abstract CX theory — it is the practitioner's perspective on the systems, training and culture that produce a memorable guest experience and the unrelenting attention to small detail it requires. Audiences leave with a clearer sense of what service is supposed to mean in their own business. Peter is a strong fit for retail, financial services and professional services audiences who want a speaker who has actually run the operation rather than just consulted on one.
